A Bit About The S.S. St. Louis

The SS St. Louis was a German ship. In 1939, it began its voyage to Cuba with close to 1,000 Jewish Refugees. When the ship reached Cuba, its passengers were not allowed to come ashore. Rejected by America, the SS St. Louis circled the Atlantic Ocean looking for a home for its passengers. Despite threatening orders from Germany, Captain Gustav Schroeder, putting his family at risk, continued his search for safe haven.
